Meet Nancy Lou

Week of November 2, 2026OregonNominated by Lilly

Her faith in the lord, her faith in everything will work out in the way the lord intended it to.

About her

Nancy lou was my grandmother , I didn’t grow up with a mother , and or many women in my life. She raised me to take care of your family, feed their mind, and soul.

Nancy grew up feeding a farming family everyday. The farmer is always recognized, but what might not be recognized is that farmers wife. Getting up early in the morning to make him breakfast, sending him to work with three meals for father son and granddaughter, and having dinner on the stove ready to go when he got home. In the kitchen telling stories about the lord that would make your heart feel warm. While singing about the lord would melt you too.

She may not have had a lot growing up , but love in her life was everlasting. Meeting folks at church, in grocery stores, farming friends of her farmer husband. And making her name known to those and being loved by them because of the caring and kindness she would give to them. No one just knew nancy, they were loved by nancy.

From canning all of our farms produce , to wedding cakes for couples!, volunteering at the church for youth classes, joining a local car club with her 1915 studabaker. She was everywhere meeting all she could.

Nancy Lou was an amazing woman who I inspire to be everyday as a mother, wife , and grandmother. She was someone the lord truly blessed so many souls with in this world.

Nancy Lou will forever be remembered in my life and passed on to generations as a woman everyone should be more like.

Nancy passed in 2019 she is forever missed by her family

What made her special

Her faith in the lord , her faith in everything will work out in the way the lord intended it to.

What she taught me

It’ll be hard, but it will be rewarding. Growing with them will be challenging , but everything you face with your kiddos and the arguments you may have will set them up for success in the future.

Why she deserves this

She should be Miss Kay’s mom of the week because she never wanted to boast about herself .. she never wanted to be the center of attention, she was “just nancy lou” .. well grandma you’re not “JUST” nancy lou. You are THE nancy lou who I KNOW will be a name in my household till the rest of time

Lightly edited for length. The words are her family's.

Know a mom like this one?

Every so often I put one mom up here, in the words of whoever loves her enough to write in. There's no voting and nothing to win. She doesn't have to be having a good week, and she doesn't have to still be with us.

Tell us about her, and skip her last name, her town and her kids' names. We want to celebrate her, not put her address on the internet.

  • We check with her family before anything goes up.
  • Children's names never go up. Not once, not anywhere.
  • Her family sees the whole thing before it's published.
  • One message takes it down, any time.
