Meet Tina

Week of October 14, 2026MissouriNominated by her daughter, Morgan

She taught me that sometimes you have to laugh at what’s going on around you. To not always take everything so serious.

About her

She’s been through things no one should ever go through. She took care of her mom with cancer at the same time she had a child to take care of. She has loved not only her kids, but her grandkids so much. She’s a 6th grade teacher so she can continue to spread the love to more kids.

What made her special

Her love for books. She encourages others to pick up a book and get to reading. She will read to her grandchildren any book they want, for as long as they will sit still.

What she taught me

She taught me that sometimes you have to laugh at what’s going on around you. To not always take everything so serious.

Why she deserves this

I’m not even her daughter. I’m her daughter-in-law. From the moment I met her she took me in and loved me as if I was her own. When my husband (her son) deployed to Bahrain and I was left to take care of a 2 year old and a newborn by myself, she flew to California to get me and my boys and bring us home. She kept us at her house for 4 months, fed us, clothed us, and made sure we knew we were loved and never alone. We now live with her until we can find our own place to call home. She has truly changed my life and I couldn’t be more thankful.

Lightly edited for length. The words are her family's.

Know a mom like this one?

Every so often I put one mom up here, in the words of whoever loves her enough to write in. There's no voting and nothing to win. She doesn't have to be having a good week, and she doesn't have to still be with us.

Tell us about her, and skip her last name, her town and her kids' names. We want to celebrate her, not put her address on the internet.

  • We check with her family before anything goes up.
  • Children's names never go up. Not once, not anywhere.
  • Her family sees the whole thing before it's published.
  • One message takes it down, any time.
